Bears

From the newspapers to the concrete - a news item that continued to captivate us - toy crazes turning parents into toy crazies. Specific to this timeframe, the Tickle-Me-Elmo dolls were at the source of fights between adults, crying amongst children and delight to the profiteers. We wanted to create a record for ourselves of a moment when the impact of these toy crazes seemed to be particular prevalent. In an attempt to not single out, or accidently re-glorify any specific current toy fad, we leaned on a classic to represent all toys. The drawing highlights the promotional activities of the bear sellers and the crushed, swarming and fighting legions below. An offer of a rabbit toy is met with rejection.
