Connections
Worcester Art Museum, Massachusetts
Annually, for over fifteen years, we have been invited to create a piece of work at the Worcester Art Museum in conjunction with their Art All State program. For the most part all the murals have been the product of exactly 24 hours of straight work. A group of Tape Artists will start at 9 am on Friday morning and draw straight through the night to 9 pm on Saturday morning. The work is in its finished state until the afternoon and then removed at 4.
Rolling up the stairs of this museum is a tall circular piece showing, in a very literal fashion, an ode to the interconnectivity between people. The drawing was the result of discussions about some of the differences between a lot of curated work inside of museums that has a tendency to be the result of insular studio practices vs. The work created by public artists which inherently involves various forms of visual collaboration. One of our favorite themes in the Tape Art universe is that of the people we create, creating their own artworks and structures. This drawing depicted the public as it passes by as well as the creators of the massive circular artwork.
